A Short boat and coach journey from Kos this Island is worth a visit. An Island or contrasts. Only around 30 sq. miles. Exceptionally green. Few beaches and white houses that stand out against the black volcanic rock and a huge volcano right in the middle. It is a strange experience taking the coach to the rim of the volcano, riding along the large fertile plain to arrive at the rim of the the still bubbling crater. When you visit be sure to have thick soled shoes as you can walk across the hot crust that is still sending out plumes of steam and depositing sulphur around the blow holes.
